To attack your enemies, simply click on the screen and drag your cursor around. Hitting them will reduce their health bar. Hitting your opponents from their heads gives them the most damage, so try to aim there. As you beat your enemies and complete levels, you'll earn coins. You can use these to unlock different characters with different stats.
